A Note from the Administration
Welcome to CAL!
We have a lot of exciting programs and activities planned for 2017-2018. We made some great strides together last year, and this year we are introducing new technologies to support learning both in the classroom and at home. We are also adding some special events to promote camaraderie and teamwork among students and cooperation and communication between teachers and parents.
CAL is a place where students will receive a strong foundation, with a rigorous curriculum and engaging activities. A CAL education inspires confidence, creativity and critical thinking, and we also strive to make it a place where students feel at home, creating lasting friendships even as they gain a greater love for learning.
CAL officially opened on September 16, 2012. Growth has been phenomenal. The campus has three buildings, separated by Kindergarten, Lower Primary, and Higher Primary, and has a capacity of approximately 600 students. Aside from homeroom classes that provide instruction in the core subjects of Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and the core courses of the Libyan curriculum – Arabic, Islamic, Libyan History, and Libyan Culture and Society), the school offers special classes, including French, Computers, Physical Education, Music, Art, and Library. There is also an extensive English as a Second Language (ESL) program, which includes in-class support as well as additional classes targeting specific ESL needs, and a Resource Teacher who helps students with learning difficulties develop their skills.
We are part of the international community of educators working together within the “challenging, comprehensive and supportive learning environment” at CAL. We believe every student can be successful with the right motivation and a team effort among educators, parents and the students themselves. We look forward to another year of working within this community to promote CAL as a great place to learn and “the home of future leaders.”
